| Description | I have two identical drives - Maxtor 6V300F0 (300,1GB) serial ata and a Maxtor 6Y120P0 as ide 0 drive. The boot disk is the 1st Maxtor 6V300F0. When I run Speedfan the hardware is detected correctly (see below), but then only two drives are available for SMART diagnostics and the temperature sensor on one of the Maxtor 6V300F0 is not available. | ||||

There are several threads on this site about this. It is the hard disk controller's driver that is returning bogus info for the other drive. If you carefully look at the result of the SEND REPORT button on SpeedFan's INFO tab you will see that SpeedFan finds both hard disks, but that the driver returns exactly the same data for them both. All that SpeedFan can do is acknowledge the mistake and avoid showing improper data. |
