Summary0002318: After monitor sleeps, HD7970 looses temp control and reads -999
DescriptionAfter the monitor sleeps speed fan looses connection to the graphics card. Once i wake the monitor the temperature reads -999 and fan control is lost until speed fan is restarted. Potentially dangerous bug, if unnoticed you could fry your card. Several other users have reported this issue with other AMD cards including the r9 series and its believed to have something to do with power saving mode. Afterburner does not have this problem but i use speed fan to vary case fan speed off gpu temp as many users also do.
Steps To ReproduceAllow the monitor to go into sleep state and then remain in that state for a couple of minutes. Then wake the monitor and it should read -999c
Additional InformationA simple restart temp detection on resume from monitor sleep option would get around the problem.

Let's do some flash mob about it already ^_^
Bugreports like this one are coming since the first version with Radeon GPU support.

Is it any better on nvidias team? its been 4 or so years since i owned one. Oh well hopefully one day this gets fixed, its the only thing that's stopping it from being a flawless program for me.

:-)
I never managed to reproduce this issue on my several video cards.
And I already added some code to "relink" the video card.
I will try to be more aggressive.

I have the exact same problem! A fix would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Sapphire R9 290X.

"its the only thing that's stopping it from being a flawless program for me." - Exactly this.
