Summary0000998: Application fails to display configuration options
DescriptionWHen I click on the configure button the configuration form fails to appear and software no longer accepts user input.
Using task manager to close the application produces the message:
"The system cannot end this program because it is waiting for a response from you"
Additional InformationVersion 4.33 was installed after uninstallation ver 4.32. When uninstalling I chose the option to keep existing configuration info.
I no longer have a copy of V4.32 to reinstall. Subsequent reinstallation of 4.33 has not resolved this problem.

Interesting report. I never heard of anything like this. You can try two things:
1) try to use ALT-TAB to cycle from one window to another. This sometimes brings to front unexpected windows.
2) overwrite the EXE with the latest beta available online and let me know.

Thanks for getting back to me Alfredo.
I have uploaded the latest beta (4.34 33) but the problem remains the same.
I can't find any windows lurking anywhere using alt tab.

Incidently I was using version 4.32 and that worked fine - but I've lost my copy of it and of course it's not available for download from the website.

It's just a thought but .... If you can supply me with 4.32 then I could reinstall that - if I get the same problem with v.4.32 now then it might indicate that the problem has something to do with the uninstall/install process/

If the problem doesn't occur with 4.32 then at least I'll have a useable version of speedfan! Which was working pretty well controlling the fan speed to my Intel Quad core.

I had the same problem.

I discovered that the configuration window does get shown, but for some reason it's off-screen. To get it back press Alt-Space, M, Left Arrow. Then move the mouse around and the window should appear.

After you get the window visible once the problem is solved for good because the configuration window location is remembered.

To fix this problem I'd guess that the code responsible for showing and positioning the configuration dialog needs to check that the location is within the desktop bounds.

The code that restores the window position is not mine. I will have a look if I can add a workaround. A change in resolution and/or a dual monitor setup might cause this.
RodEvan, let me know if the issue is fixed for you.

Thanks nate - the window was off screen - I'm not sure how the window got off-screen but I've got it back now, and it reappears exactly where I left it every time!

I do have a dual monitor system but I not aware of changing my setup in a way that would have put the configuration form off screen.

Anyway all is fine now - thanks to both you nate and alfredo for your help with this.

...and of course Alfredo this is an excellent piece of software .
I also use the Vista sidebar speedfan gadget to show core temps - both work very well together.

Thank you. I'm happy that everything works fine now.
