Summary | 0000970: Unknown Winbond2 on P5B Deluxe
Description | Hi, does anybody know what that is?: Unknown Winbond2=$A00F ID=$A6 on SMBus at $22 I'm using 4.33 Beta 18. I didn't think there was a second Winbond Chip on that Board so what does Speedfan find there?

I have the very same motherboard. I don't know what's actually located at that address. If anybody has any idea, feel free to let us know. Anyway: there is no problem if SpeedFan "thinks" to have found a Winbond chip that couldn't be identified. |
|
Ok. I've searched my records and found no known chip that could be at that address. My best guess is that it's the AS3336G 6A0G AA F451291 02 which might be an Asus ASIC that seems to extend power from 4-phase to 8-phase. This is consistent with what I expected it to be. Unfortunately I have no datasheet for it and therefore I can't know which one could be a safe identification procedure. There is another chip that I was unable to identify. It's the AS-007F A0 U-MN7FA G-06411 Any suggestion is welcome. |

I think this issue can be marked as "resolved". With the latest beta Speedfan does not report an unknown Winbond2 at $22. Scanning the SMBUS manually shows that Speedfan finds a device at that address, so everything should be fine now. With Beta 51 Speedfan shows the following on my system: Win9x:NO 64Bit:NO GiveIO:YES SpeedFan:YES I/O properly initialized Linked ISA BUS at $0290 Linked Intel 82801HB ICH8 SMBUS at $0400 Found nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS Scanning ISA BUS at $0290... Winbond W83627DHG (ID=$C1) found on ISA at $290 SuperIO Chip=Winbond W83627DHG Scanning Intel SMBus at $0400... SMART Enabled for drive 0 Found SAMSUNG HD501LJ (500,1GB) Found Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz End of detection Loaded 0 events |

Hello, I was looking exactly at that chip right now. I own that motherboard and I have the names of all the chips on it, but I'm still unable to find a match. I'm working on it. |
