Summary | 0000950: If there is a problem reading the SMART from an HDD, SpeedFan can hang
Description | I have a system with the following: * When SpeedFan starts up, it begins scrolling through it's start-up sequence * It reads SMART data from HDD0 with no problem but when it tries to read SMART from HDD 1, the entire computer locks up and I need to hard reset the system to get it up and going. Very repeatable. HDD1 is a 400GB Seagate 3.5" HDD that is about 3 months old ... * Is there a way to disable the SMART data acquisition from HDDs when SpeedFan begins or watchdog it so SpeedFan kills the thread if it gets no response from the HDD and hangs the interface?
Steps To Reproduce | To reproduce, for me, just reboot. Very consistent. Have not verified independently of SpeedFan that the HDD has SMART problems.
Additional Information | Only had this problem with one computer. Have *NEVER* had other problems with SpeedFan in the past
