Summary0000950: If there is a problem reading the SMART from an HDD, SpeedFan can hang
DescriptionI have a system with the following:
* When SpeedFan starts up, it begins scrolling through it's start-up sequence
* It reads SMART data from HDD0 with no problem but when it tries to read SMART from HDD 1, the entire computer locks up and I need to hard reset the system to get it up and going. Very repeatable. HDD1 is a 400GB Seagate 3.5" HDD that is about 3 months old ...

* Is there a way to disable the SMART data acquisition from HDDs when SpeedFan begins or watchdog it so SpeedFan kills the thread if it gets no response from the HDD and hangs the interface?
Steps To ReproduceTo reproduce, for me, just reboot. Very consistent. Have not verified independently of SpeedFan that the HDD has SMART problems.
Additional InformationOnly had this problem with one computer. Have *NEVER* had other problems with SpeedFan in the past

My guess is that the second hard disk is on a controller whose driver causes the crash. Use /NOSMARTSCAN command line parameter to disable SMART completely.
