Summary | 0000093: Fan speed changes only in 0-10% range. In that range 1% change is too big.
Description | Eg. one of my fan has max speed of 4200 rpm. In 20% setting the speed is 3800 rpm, what is minimal change compared to the change in the speed setting. In 10% setting the speed is 3400 rpm again, minimal change compared to the 20% setting. The speed change is only significant in 0-10% setting, but in that range the step is too big (1400 rpm @ 2%, 1900 rpm @ 3%). Would be good to have a radio button to select linear or logaritmic scale to control the speed.

I'm considering a workaraound, but this is, IMHO, due to poor circuitry design and not following the datasheets. Anyway... I hope to be able to find a workaround. |
I'm working on a workaround to this issue. Would you like to try a beta? |
Thank you for working on this issue. As I reported nearly two years ago, on my MS-6701/W83697HF I get: 1722 rpm at 0% (no noise) 3013 rpm at 1% (pretty noisy already) 3516 rpm at 2% 3792 rpm at 5% 3979 rpm at 10% 4018 rpm at 100% I would love to try a beta. edited on: 12-03-04 19:29 |

Could you, please, drop me an email? I will answer to that email with a 1MB ZIP file containing an EXE. I don't think I'll be able to send it to you tonight, but I should be able to send it to you during the weekend :-) |
I have 2 AOpen Ak79* nForce2 motherboards that do the same thing. Will this workaround be generic, or motherboard specific? |
Ten days ago I sent you the email you asked for but didn't receive the beta. Still eager to try one if you wish. |
Same here. I have not received the beta what I requested in e-mail. |
Alfredo, I have got the same problem and would like to try the beta version as well. Could you please send it to me when available at e-mail address 'valentin.pankov@mail.ru'. Thank you. |

This is not a SpeedFan issue. It depends on the circuitry on the motherboard, on the fan model and on the PWM CLOCK used to control the fan. |
