Summary0000769: P5B Deluxe Cannot change cpu fan speed. Need DC cpu fan control
DescriptionOn the ASUS P5B Deluxe you cannon control a cpu fan on the 4 pin cpu header with a 3 pin fan. I think if we can change the control method from PWM to DC then we could control it. You cannot change from PWM to DC in the bios. If you could tell me how to change it to DC in speedfan or send me a modified version I will test it.

I have the same problem. I'm using an S-Flex 1600rpm as CPU fan (3pin) and the speed cannot be changed. I'm using version 4.32 on Vista 64bit.

@edit
The problem is not Vista related. I just installed XP (32bit)...same problem. By the way, I'm using the BIOS 1205.

this is also an issue with p5w64 ws pro boards (the 4pin pwm fans work fine)

Reminder sent to: alfredo

Hello alfredo,

there are multiple threads regarding the "3-pin CPU-fan on PWM header problem" with different (Asus) boards.

Could you please write, if this is due to hardware restrictions and therefore impossible to resolve...

or if it is BIOS related and Asus has to add support for it...

or if there might be a solution in later Speedfan versions.

Thank you very much,

You're doing a great job here :)

The latest beta allows you to do it in CONFIGURE / ADVANCED. It allows me to change the speed of one of the fans, but not of the CPU fan.
Let me know your findings.

I'm closing this issue because the latest beta adds support to select DC/PWM output. If it works on a specific motherboard, it depends on the circuitry the manufacturer put on it.
