Summary | 0000700: Confusing tempertaure readings
Description | A Gigabyte K8NS running on latest BIOS (r19) with an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (S754) and the original HSF set. Problem is, SpeedFan reports me two different readings on temperature of the processor, I have a "Core" reading and a "Temp2" which other programs (such as Everest, HMonitor) reports as the CPU temperature. Problem is, the "Core" reading of the SpeedFan is generally 8-10C higher then the "CPU" reading other programs reports. I am confused about the temperature reading and sometimes when it's on a high load the Core goes up to like 60s and sometimes in the 70s. If I remember it right Athlon 64s has a self protection where if the core temperature reaches higher then 70C it'll shut itself down, which never happened even then the "Core" reading is at 72C, the system never slowed down or anything. However it concerns me a lot, because the "CPU" reading goes anywhere from 28C to 58C but the Core goes anywhere from 38C to 74C. Is this a known issue? Or it's something to do with the motherboard, the software or, I just need to trust one of the readings?
