Ran with /nosmbscan - froze so rebooted system

Ran with smbdebug - no freeze but 'readings' status message indicated 'no supported chip detected'. Restarted speedfan and it froze but appeared to get further as there were more status messages displayed. Due to freeze, could not scroll back in window to record them all. Last messages displayed:
SMART Enabled for drive 1
Found ST3300831A (300.1GB)
Found ACPI temperature (40.0C)

debug.nfo (10,698 bytes)

Restarting after the debug did create the .cfg files, attached, before speedfan froze.

Very odd indeed. I'm sure enough I used SpeedFan on an Abit IC7-G with no issue whatsoever. Try running SpeedFan with:

/NOSUPERIO
/NOSMARTSCAN
/NONVIDIAI2C

Tried using each of the suggested flags but all froze the system. I just tried it again without any flags and it seems to make it further now, after the tests with flags, as it does not freeze until it reaches 'Found ACPI temperature (39.0C)'.

Try with:

/NOACPISCAN
/NOUGURUSCAN

Tried running with /noacpiscan and it worked! Guess that was the problem as the other sensors will be more than adequate for me. I am sorry to bother you with this as I should have been able to track down the different flags to test.

Scratch that ... rebooted the machine and the /noacpiscan switch no longer keeps it from freezing.

Rebooted after last freeze, now seems to work with ACPI disabled.

The fact that /NOACPISCAN fixed your issue is quite strange. If the system freezes, then it can't be a user app, but something inside a driver. As far as I know nobody ever needed that switch and, looking at the relevant code, I can't figure out why it should happen. If I were you, I would look for a BIOS update and for updated drivers. At worst you will have a system that runs better :-)
