> SMART Enabled for drive 0 > Found WDC WD360GD-00FNA0 (37.0GB) > SMART Enabled for drive 1 > Found WDC WD360GD-00FNA0 (250.1GB) Something wrong happened here. Could you tell me more about your two HDDs? Which should be their model name and which is expected to be their size? |

I think it is the same problem on my mashine. If it is the same then it is not only limited to SATA. I have two Maxtor 6Y160P0 on a SiI 0680 RAID controller in non-RAID configuration. It is the same symptoms, but it is not only limited to the temperatures. I can only select one of the disks in the SMART tab. I have used the report tool in speedfan to send a report, but here are the essentials: ASUS K8N-E motherboard nForce3 250Gb chipset Windows XP Pro SP1 Speedfan 4.14 |

Silicon Image controllers seem to have "odd" (to say the least) drivers. They return duplicated ids, limited info, duplicated data, incomplete values. At least, they do so using with the standard calls used by SpeedFan and that are working perfectly and flawlessly on every other controller available to date. Some of them are even able to crash when asked for some info, but it looks like the latest releases are getting slightly better (on the "crashing" side). |

i have a wd raptor, and a 250gb wd drive. i noticed that just now as well. WDC WD360GD-00fnao 36gb WD Raptor WDC WD2500PB-98fbao IDE 250gb western digital hard drive, on Abit Seriellel SATA Adapter (Converts IDE to SATA) SiL 3112 Raid Conroller on Abit nf7-s WinXP Pro SP1, up to date 9800 Pro, Cats 4.7 seems to correctly detect size of the drive, just inconsistant labelling, and temp reading are sporadic at best, sometimes no HD temps, sometimes HD0, sometimes (albeit rarely) a dual reading of disk 0 (the raptor) edited on: 08-04-04 08:45 |

Unfortunately this seems the same odd behaviour from Silicon Image. I added some code to be able to show S.M.A.R.T. values with such a controller on some occasions where I found that its incomplete responses were still enough to show "something". I always keep on searching for workarounds, though. I will try to add a SATA HDD, only for testing purposes :-), to the Silicon Image controller on my ABIT NF7-S. |

I'm closing this issue as it is not due to SpeedFan. SIL drivers contain a lot of odd behaviours. The "best" of them is the one that causes Windows (even XP) to completely crash if you try to read SMART data... |
