Description | SpeedFan can
Steps To Reproduce | You need a Silicon Image 3112A SATA Controller on a motherboard or Add-on Card. You need two SATA Hard Drives. You need SpeedFan offcourse. Finally create a RAID 0 set on this controller. My experience was on an Abit AN7 with an integrated Silicon Image 3112A SATA Controller and two Samsung SP1614C hard drives.
Additional Information | Download Silicon Image 3112A datasheets here -> http://gkernel.sourceforge.net/specs/sii/

Is this a dup of 0000259 ???? |

Thanks. It apears to be the same problem. I don |

I think I need a different kind of datasheet. I think I need access to a higher level layer (the Windows driver for the Silicon Image's controller). If I try to access low level registers I would corrupt everything. To date I was unable to receive any answer from Silicon Image. If you have any way to help, feel free to do it. |

I found this little trick to enable SMART and HDD Temp monitoring in latest Silicon Image RAID drivers on RAID sets. Tested on Silicon Image 3112A and 0680A. Open a command line window and type this: "verifier /flags 0x80 /driver scsiport.sys" than press ENTER key Restart your computer and check it next time you start SpeedFan To disable it type this on a command line window: "verifier /reset" Restart your computer Also check this from Microsoft: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms792860.aspx http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms792854.aspx I hope this will help SpeedFan |

Has anybody checked those findings on an Intel chipset motherboard? This is the command for Intel RAID: verifier /flags 0x80 /driver IaStor.sys |
|
Hi maddoc The command should be the same for other manufacturers I should point this command works for Windows XP and above. |
|
Interesting. Could you upload a SEND REPORT before and after the verifier? |
|
After every command I rebooted the computer. I have tested with "verifier /flags 0x80 /driver IaStor.sys" - no change. After that "verifier /reset". Then "verifier /flags 0x80 /driver scsiport.sys" and smartie took way longer when getting data from Intel SMBus. I'll attach the reports before and after scsiport command. |

maddoc I don |

That's the point, for Intel RAID, the smart data is not reported even after using the verifier command. You are lucky engine! |
