| Description | hello, when i check the CPU temperature in BIOS, there is 44 C, but when speedfan starts immediately, it shows cpu temperature 26 C (with PII diode) or 70 C (with thermistor diode). i don't know where the problem is, i try 4.28 beta 11 too, i upgrade bios to newest version, but no change. case and hdd temps are ok. i use asrock 775-915gl motherboard, P4 (3.0 GHz) with thermaltake big typhoon cooler. | ||||

The CPU Temperature listed in BIOS is usally the CPU Diode, As windows boots it uses a lot a CPU and all the programs that load when starting/Logging on will also strain the CPU, this could be the reason that the CPU diode reaches 70C in no time at all. try reducing your CPU load on boot by stopping unessercary programs from starting up. In order to understand which one, between 26 and 70, is the actual CPU temperature you should left the system idle for some minutes and read the min temperature. Then put the CPU under 100% load and look at the resulting temperature. Some considerations: - if you read any temperature in BIOS, it is unlikely that the BIOS changed the diode mode and you should not change it thorugh SpeedFan; - Windows uses HALT instruction to lower temperatures. This can be the reason why you read a lower temperature then while in BIOS; - a real compare can be done only with a custom tool by the manufacturer under Windows. |

thanks for reply. i know, that temp in BIOS can be smaller because of Windows loads many programes, but i think that 30 C difference is too high. when i touch the base of CPU cooler, i think it can't be 70 C. i disabled CPU cooler fan (thermaltake big typhoon) to check how temperature increase. when i check PII diode, temperature changed from 20 to 66 C (increase 44 C), but in same time thermistore diode show temperatures from 70 to 77 C (only 7 C). i don't know why, i don't know details of measurement system. so, i made result, speedfan is ok, i think, it's great progam, but has problem with my mobo (i know that asrock is not the ideal of quality). |
