Summary0002136: Fan control Not Fully working
DescriptionI have launch the Speedfan software on my DELL E6420 XFR, i have activate the "Dell Support function" but speed fan can partially control the fan,

I explain:

The fan make state "ON" for 1-2 seconds and go to state "OFF" for 1-2 seconds and go to "ON" state mod for 1-2 seconds, is connot make long time working, i have put 100% in the manualy control fan, but make working for 1-2 seconds ant pass to "OFF" State, it's a good things if partially working, but need to have full working fan control (the computer will make "ON" the fan when the temp go to 90-95C°, i can't edit this in the bios, is factory default fan control)
Additional Information(sorry for my Bad Seaking, i speak french ;)

Similar issue here. It should be said that in most Dell models the hardcoded fan controls WILL override Speedfan. i8kfangui had the same issue and I believe it was developed to regularly tell the fan to run at the desired speed to re-override the hardcoded controls. Could it be possible to throw this in somehow into speedfan? The only reason I do not use i8kfangui is due to the 64 bit driver signing issue and the fact speedfan just works in this regard.

I run an older Inspiron E1505 and most of the time the cpu is high enough temp to keep the fan running constantly. What I am guessing is 'high' by the system just before emergency 'full bore we need to cool this beast NOW' is registered around ~3600RPM by speedfan. If I quickly toggle the fan between 100 and 95 or anything higher than I think 70? Just toggling one notch it triggers to the highest speed which is around ~4200RPM but the system immediately clocks back down to ~3600RPM on its own a second later. If I want it to go full bore I have to repeatedly toggle the fan control to keep speedfan telling it to run at that speed.

I also had an even older Inspiron before this that I forget the model # of and the operation was the same. Given newer models are largely compatible with the same code used by i8k and speedfan, I am guessing the hardcoded functions in the system itself have largely remained the same.
