Summary0002098: SpeedFan irregularly shows message 'Error reading SMART attrs from drive <hd>'
DescriptionHi there,

I noticed some versions ago that SpeedFan sometimes shows the message 'Error reading SMART attrs from drive HDx' approximately once per day. This is most noticably on my server at home which is running 24/7 and has two disks that are watched by SpeedFan. My work system shows the same message once in a while (not that often of course as this system isn't running 24/7).

I don't know if it matters: I have Motherboard Monitor running as well on both systems.

Affected versions: at least 4.45 and 4.47.

Please see the additional information field for a debug log excerpt (the last 4 days).

Regards
Dalai

I looked a little bit futher into this matter. My assumption regarding Motherboard Monitor was correct: As long as MBM and SpeedFan are running simultaneously SpeedFan logs these messages. As soon as I stop running MBM SpeedFan doesn't log the messages anymore.

I can live with the messages for now (they can be ignored in this case), at least as long as SpeedFan can't show multiple temperatures/icons in the system tray - which btw. is a wish that has been there "forever"!
