| Description | I have found the same problem on two mainboards: Gigabyte Z86X-UD3H-B3 and Gigabyte Z77X-UD3h. The problem is that the CPU fan does not reach the full rpm when speedfan claims to set it to 100%. If I set the program to "maximize speed on exit" and exit the program, the fan spins up to 1500 RPM. If I start speedfan again, this is the value that is reported, and I can hear the fan spin loudly. If I set the speed to be automatically controlled and run prime95, speedfan claims to set the fan to 100%, but the fan only spins much slower, with a reported RPM of 830. I already tried various deltas, from 5 to 30, but the problem always remains. At this point, if I uncheck "Automatic fan speed", and enter 0%, the fan stops. If I then enter 100% again, it goes back to 830 rpm. However, if I then exit the program, the fan goes back to full speed. Clearly, the program is able to set the fan to run at 1500 rpm, but during automatic control it doesn't reach this value. Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong. I also have a similar issue with the Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI motherboard, although not nearly as pronounced as the OP. I would therefore rate my issue as "minor". Without using SpeedFan to automatically adjust the fan speed (only to monitor) my system fan will reportedly max at 2070rpm. However, when SpeedFan is auto controlling the fan and it reaches 100%, it does not exceed 1960rpm. It is only a small difference I suppose (5%) and the fan itself is only rated at 2000rpm (+/- 10%), nevertheless it is a difference. The fan is on a Corsair H60 water cooler. |
