Summary0002042: No Fan Control at all (after installing windows updates)
DescriptionI just installed Windows newly on my P7P55D Evo. One of the first programs I installed was SpeedFan V4.46. It did not adjust CPU fan speed, but I was able to Control CHA_FAN1 (listed by SpeedFan as control SYS:), which is the loudest in my Computer and only neccessary at high work load.

Then I allowed Windows to install all the updates from Microsoft, and now I can't control any fan. The controls "Sys", "CPU" and "Aux" are still visible and adjustable, but the fans dont't change speeds. When I run Asus QFan (from AISuite) and the start SpeedFan, all controls are disabled.

Checkbox "Automatic Fan Speed" is not checked, and in "Configure/Advanced/Winbond 83667 HG-B", PWM1-, PWM2- and PWM3-modes are set to "manual".

All fans have 3-pin-connectors. Models are
 - SilenX EFX-14-12, 140 x 25 mm, 900 U/min, 12 dBa, 81,5 m³/h, Fluid Dynamic Bearing (the one that worked before)
 - Scythe GentleTyphoon Lüfter (500rpm, 120x120x25) and
 - SilenX EFX-12-15, 120 x 25 mm, 1.400 U/min, 15 dBa, 125,7 m³/h, Fluid Dynamic Bearing

I now installed SpeedFan 4.47 - but it's still the same.
Can you help me making it work again?

Thanks!
Kai

Can Asus utilities change that fan speed?
Did you try to go as low as 0%?
Did you change that fan?
A 4-wire fan should work, at least for the CPU.

Asus Tool can't change it either.
I did go down to 0 % - yesterday before installing the updates this stopped the fan, but now it has no effect at all.
I did not change the fan.
I have no 4 wire fan :-( - but the CPU fan is so silent it doesn't matter. It is the chassis fan that I want to adjust. I don't understand why it workjed yesterday, but not today. Is there any driver involved that may have been changed by windows update? Are there any configuration files for speedfan other than those found in the installation directory that may be messed up?

It is highly unlikely that a Windows update can alter this. Please, try to unplug the power cable for 30 seconds.

This doesn't help either. It so strange because yesterday it worked in exactly the same hardware configuration...

Hi guys,

the same problem here. Last weekend I restarted my PC (running as a Server) and since then my fans are running at 100% and I cannot change it any way.

Windows 7 64bit reports somthing about new (reinstalling) driver for SMBus. Maybe this helps something. I reinstalled the Asus-drivers, but that hasn´t helped.

I hope you find a solution soon.
Regard
Marc

OK I have a similar problem.
Windows updated last night and now speedfan no longer controls the fans. System fans are at 100% and cpu fan is 50%. They do not adjust at all. I can adjust them manually.
Asus F2A85-M PRO with AMD A10-5700 WIN 7 64bit I tried speedfan 4.47 and 4.48 beta4

@BeerCan
What do you exactly mean when you say that you can adjust them manually?

On the speedfan main screen I can use the up and down arrows to control fan rpm. They will stay wherever I put them and not adjust automatically like they used to.

When the system starts system fans are set at 100% and the cpu fan is at 50%. When I initially configured it it was sys fans at 50% and cpu fan at 35%

Thanks
