Description | Hi, i've got a dell inspiron N7110 and its fan is very annoying and loud. It also runs always, even when its not needed. So i tried speedfan with dell support activated and i can control the fan, but the system and my mouse freezes every 3-4 seconds for 1 sec, so the system becomes unusable... What helped was the /NOTIMER command. With it, speedfan does not show temps or fan speeds, but i can control the fanspeed by just setting it to 0% manually. The problem is, that this has to be done every few minutes, since the laptop starts the fan automatically, even when not needed. Also, when i set it manually to 0% to turn it off, the system freezes for 1 sec before the fan stops. This issue is really annoying for dell users... Pls help... | ||||

This also happens on Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 (Win7 x64), SpeedFan 4.49 final, and is a showstopper - PC unusable. If I disable the Dell support, SpeedFan displays the temps fine (only through ACPI), but there are no fans to control. When enabled, it freezes for short intervals every few seconds - as described before, but the fan control works. |

Also happens on Dell Precision T3500 workstation (Xeon processor, 16GB RAM)... can't see fan speeds unless "Dell Support" is enabled, which then shows two fans, pwm1 and pwm2. But if Dell Support is enabled, the system freezes for 1 second or so, every 15 seconds, which makes it impossible to do much of anything without major annoyance. I was going to try using another fan speed program on this computer until this is fixed... but Speedfan is the only one which will even show the fans (using Dell Support mode!) |
