Summary | 0001857: Tempature starts going up, fans running at half speed
Description | I notice from time to time that the temperature reading in the task bar will start to climb. When I open the Speedfan window the fans speed will be indicating at about half their maximum speed, yet the fan speed percentages will have slewed to 100% (which indicates to me speedfan has attempted to increase fan speed). If I attempt to manually manually lower the fan speed with the up and down buttons Speedfan will slew the fanspeeds back to 100% and then both the fan speed indicators will indicate speeds have been increased to 100% and I can hear the fans pick up speed.
Steps To Reproduce | This seems to be related to something in the Firefox browser (currently running ver 5.0), but I cannot duplicate the error a 100% of the time. (I filled out this report using the Firefox browser and the problem did not appear)

Did you make sure that the correct temperature is controlling the fan speed? SpeedFan 4.44 sets fan speeds more aggressively. Previous versions avoided setting PWM speed to a certain value if it was already set. SpeedFan 4.44 sets it again. |

I have actually noticed this problem with previous versions of Speedfan. The fan speeds of both fans drop in half even though speed fan appears to attempt to drive them to 100% when the tmpature increases. I've uploaded a screen shot of the Speedfan screen in normal operation (speedfan1.jpeg). Since I cannot consistantly duplicate the problem I will upload a screenshot of the problem as soon as possible. |

Please see speedfan2.jpegto to see a screenshot of the problem. If I click the down buttons on the 'CPU Fan' and 'Case Fan' controls the fan speeds will both drive to a 100% and the tempatures will start to come down. |

Could you, please, upload the output of a SEND REPORT (INFO tab)? |

Are you using the standard or the Advanced Fan Control method? |
|
Standard Fan Control method |
|
Some other tool is interfering. Advanced Fan Control is more aggressive setting fan speeds. Give it a try or disable the other tool. |
|
It took me a couple tries to figure out how to make the advance fan control work, but now that I have it appears to have solved the problem (plus the fan speeds seem to have a smoother function. Not such radical changes over small changes in temp). |
