Summary0001763: Hang scanning SMBus nForce2
DescriptionSpeedfan was working fine on my M3N78-EM with integrated Geforce 8300. I upgraded to EAH5500 and set priority to use the PCIe for video in BIOS (no way to completely disable the 8300, I assume because other functions like LAN are integrated on the same chip - if I've understood this correctly).
Now if I run speedfan it will hang at 'Scanning nForce2 SMBus at $0600...'.
Running with /NOSMBSCAN it will load fine.
Steps To ReproduceInstall card in PCIe slot and select to use this for display. Load Speedfan and it will hang on 'Scanning nForce2 SMBus at $0600...'.
Additional InformationI've attached output from speedfan.exe /SMBDEBUG up to address $10. Let me know if you think it will help to see the whole range, it would probably take me a whole day since there is no 'automatically scan next address' option.

After going with the debug option for a while - perhaps it's not hung but still scanning. It didn't take anywhere near this long before inserting the pcie card.

Actually it does start eventually, I left it in 'Not Responding' for about 20 minutes and it eventually started. Unfortunately it does this scan every time it starts, which is a little bit ridiculous.
I see there are some other tickets in this system about long start up times, but they are talking about 2 minutes, not 20!
Will the beta help me?

oh, did I mentioned speedfan.exe is using 50% cpu the whole time it's scanning?
