Toshiba fan support uses a very old interface that worked only ON/OFF. Did you try to set to 0% and 100%?

As an aside.. How does it set the fan? Using direct access to toshiba HCI, rather than ACPI?
I'm just wondering, as speedfan does turn on and off the fan on my old toshiba laptop, but using the ACPI _TZ.PFAN, which is itself just a call to HCI, doesn't.

Edit:
I guess so. Using ACPI SMBR to call HCI FF00/0004 I was able to turn off/on the fan. But PFAN in BIOS ACPI uses HCI FA00/2200, which doesn't seem to have an effect. Strange... Bad BIOS?

Oh well. This is only for my old laptop (6100). New laptop (U500) is much different.
