Summary0001705: Fan speed reported as 0 after resume from sleep - v4.42
DescriptionOn resuming from sleep the fans RPM speed is displayed as 0. This is incorrect as a visual inspection shows that the fans are spinning.

This issue may be related to issue 1703.

The attached PDF provides before and after screenshots.

Steps To ReproduceLet the system enter sleep mode and then reactivate it.
Additional InformationNote that the PC is running the latest BIOS v2.30 and the latest drivers for chipsets and components including the graphics card. Windows 7 is also upto date with all relevant patches applied.

This is a new system built from leftover components after multiple upgrades on other PC's. It has very little software installed.

Did you enter CONFIGURE / ADVANCED and set FAN DIVISORs to 8 or 16?
Select REMEMBER IT too.

Hi Alfredo! I set the two FAN DIVISORS to 8 and it immediatly started to display the correct fan RPM's. I also selected REMEMBER IT for each divisor.

I then rebooted the system as I was interested to see what it would do on boot up as the original fan divisor value was 2 . Again it correctly reports the fan RPM's and the divisor is set to 8. I'm interested to know how the divisor works as this is not the behaviour I was expecting.

Anyway this issue is resolved. Thanks for your help.

Higher divisors are needed to handle slow fans.
