Additional InformationOriginal Seagate Barracuda (7200.11) 1TB died after only 20 months. Fresh factory recovery install on new WD hard drive.

Speedfan (and any other program) needs to run with admin privileges to read SMART data.

Looks like someone else has trouble reading smart on WD drive

Admin or not, with a WD drive too I get this

There is no problem with WD drives in general. I'm using a WD Caviar Green (1TB) and never had any SMART issues.
