Summary0001593: Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AHCI causes speedfan freeze
DescriptionSetting SB850 in AHCI mode in bios and launching speedfan , Speedfan ui apears then freezes... and for about 1-2min hole windows is frozen after that windows unfreezes but speedfan remains unresponsive and checking event viewer reveales amdsata : Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.
this happens avery time i try to run speedfan

P.S. - In IDE mode it runs fine...

Does the problem occur, if you activate/deactivate USB3/SATAIII in the BIOS?

yes still happens ... the same problem I observed on my friends GA-M790FXT-UD5P uppon installing newer ati sb chipset drivers 10.2+. I dont know if its relevant or not but we both have WD Caviar Black 1TB

What if you run SpeedFan with /NOADVSMARTSCAN command line parameter?

Another, less drastic, switch is /NOSUMMARYLOGSCAN .

 works with /NOADVSMARTSCAN :) hdd smarts are shown as well
