Summary0001419: Chassis fan speed goes lower than set for, temps shoot up but fans not responding with increased rpm
DescriptionI have read all the documentation and online guides as well.
Have asus p6t controlling chassis fans. Speedfan settings:
System Temp to link to "Speed Chassis 1" (PWM2).
Desired = 40, Warning =50
"Chassis 1" fan shows its sensor as the Sys Fan
Speed Chassis 1 (PWM2) @ Minimum = 70 and Maximum = 80, Automatically variated
Under advanced settings, FAN1 divisor = 8 FAN2-FAN5 divisors = 16
PWM1 - PWM3 modes are Manual PWM Control
Delta Value for fan speeds = 5

If I have "Automatic fan speed" unchecked, I can set the "Speed Chassi 1" speed manually and hear the fans respond.

The problem:
"Automatic fan speed" checked ON
System Temp is 42c
Speed Chassis 1 shows speed of 70% - the minimum.
Problem 1:
I expect since the system temp is below the desired, the fans would kick in and increase. They are not and staying at the minimum.

Problem 2:
After an unknown amount of time (an hour?) with SpeedFan minimized to tray, I notice that my temps have shot up (System 46 plus). When I open Speedfan my fan speeds all show 0.

I was running the 4.39 beta when this all happened. Have switched back to 4.38 and will see if it happens again in the next hour. I don't want to leave speedfan running for long, lest I forget about it, walk away and melt down. I plan on disabling until I hear back from you.

Any ideas what is going on?
Thanks -- Michael
Steps To ReproduceThis has happened twice today by minimizing Speedfan and forgetting about it. I haven't yet determined how long it takes.
Additional InformationI am overclocking i7 920 to 3.6ghz using 180 x 20

Everything worked fine for about 1 1/2 hours or so, and then the same thing happened (now on version 4.38). I set up an event to beep if the Chassis Fan went below 500 rpm and luckily this worked and alerted me as soon as it happened. Nice Feature.

Alfredo, It's been a month of checking back regularly, hoping you have suggestions. Any chance of working on this one?

Sounds like your settings are wrong. Keep in mind that on recent Asus boards all chassis fans are controlled simultaneously. This is not a Speedfan bug but a requirement because Asus wired all CHA_FANs together.

All CHA_FANs are controlled by the same Speed (I believe Speed02).

norman02us, thank you for responding. I have uploaded 2 pdfs of screen shots. Hopefully these will help determine if the settings are incorrect. I agree that only pwm2 manages all the chassis fans. I have played with manually adjusting the speed % on the main screen and can hear all 3 chassis fans' speed change as I do so to confirm it.

Try to set only one sensor as the trigger, for example Core0. Does that work correctly?
