Did the debug.nfo help? |
|
Please, try to run SpeedFan with the following command line switch: /NOARECASCAN and let me know. |
|
Thx...works fine now :) Will there be a general fix for Win9x? But for a while there is an error after closing SF (with and without parameter): "Thread Error: access number is not defined (6)" (orig. in German "Thread Error: Zugriffsnummer ist nicht definiert (6)") |

BTW: Thank you for still supporting Win9x, alfredo! |

Gotta bump this one and add my $0.02: this was driving me mad as well! I did almost *all* the "/no" switches documented: no nVidia, no SMART, no SMBus, no SuperIO, no PCI, no timer... and it STILL would hang immediately after detecting the Winbond SuperIO chip on whatever bus I left enabled (ISA was all I was left being unable to disable). It would hang the system full-stop, delaying a Ctrl+Alt+Del to close the task, and would still take 3-4 seconds to finally end the task once I selected "End Task" on the confirmation. This is Windows ME (a nostalgia-trip I've been playing around with this weekend) on a Tyan S2090 with a Pentium 4, and the latest SpeedFan as of this date (4.45). Adding "/NOARECASCAN" made it fire right up and even controlled my fans using the same configuration file ported over from the WinXP side! Awesome... now I can hear myself think again! :D Seems this switch may be related to something common to the Win9x platform... Edit: Log. Freaky just how similar our logs are between DeltaFX and I. Same Winbond chip, and also running nVidia GF4 video cards. Need some help testing this bug? It seems to be common between these combos of hardware... |

Interesting. I will consider completely disabling Areca support under Win9x. |
