I greatly improved the exotics. Would you like to try the latest beta? Just send me an email (not from GMAIL) and I will send you a zipped exe.
Further improvements are on the way. When you say dockable, do you mean that I could create a panel that's indipendent from the main application window?

The latest beta is available online. Do you think that the current exotics implementation wastes too much space? Consider that, once fully tested, the botton button will disappear.

see screenshot. it's working good, just look at the CPU cores, 1 at a line, the other 3 under it. As the CPU boxes are so diff, it looks a bit out of sync. Maybe group the different groups, using blanks to fill out the cells?
For the docking, it just looks so much cleaner to have just the display without its container. Or something like the AMD thingie, where all the temps are in diff boxes which you can anchor together? Just floating temps, with at the most an outline you can position anywhere.

Did you try to move boxes around using the mouse? Just pass it over box labels to see the "hand".

I just sent you a new beta.

just tried the emaildl. Well you can drag the box, but you can't drop it to replace. You have to hussle the boxes to reorder the display; drag one away put to other and then put the dragged box etc.
Also you'd might consider not redrawing the box whilst moving. The outline is to wide and the redraw is slowing down the dragging.
Also i can drag a temp outside the container but it will not stick, it anchors back to the container. Which delphi do you use? Codegear?

I'm using Delphi 7, although I purchased Delphi 2007. I will try to move to 2007 later this summer.
Yes, I might stop drawing the frame while moving.
Do you like the new CPU USAGE box? Is it any better?
When you drag&drop you can define almost any kind of behaviour. Sometimes it might be better to "replace". Some others not. I will consider your suggestion, although I prefer to "make room" and place things the way I want. I don't think that we would move boxes there that often :-)

On my system moving the boxes is totally fluent.

There is still the problem that text which is too long for a box is just cut off.
Additionally, it would be great to have the option to disable some boxes. For example, I'm not interested in the Uptime.

I plan to add an option to hide boxes.

@norman, i guess it's my desktopskinning program which causes the display retardation. Still a lot of people use some kind of skinner. For the text, why dont you rename the temps?

@alfredo, yes i like the new cpu usage. Nicely done. Understated but still different. Yes youre right you dont move them all about all the time.

But placing them on the desktop i'd like a lot. That way i can put the most important on top on my desktop. Drag them of the container and drop them on the desktop.

Youre going to add a rightclickmenu? Maybe there you can add a 'drop here'.
I've codegear rad 2007, but do more c++ then delphi

Speedfan 4.35 beta 24
First I've entered the Exotics tab, next I've disabled some fan speeds and now at Exotics tab I cannot move boxes to the positions where those fan speeds were placed. ;)

You are right. I didn't consider that. I will fix it.

@adakasty
I fixed it. Now when you move a box over another one, they are swapped. This happens with hidden boxes too.

:) proper function confirmed at first glance... Nice job
Is it just my imagination or is the dragoutline quicker redrawn? Its more fluent now, but that might be my comp

just one detail here, if i hesitate while dragging on a drop the dragoutline stays behind when continuing dragging. After drop screen is properly refreshed

Speed change while moving should depend on your computer. About the glitches while moving, I will try to improve that, but it's really a minor issue.

i have 5.9 rating, but i have windowblinds installed which might interfere.Yes the glitches are ofcourse minor. I am quite happy sofar, the hide/unhide works fine.
1 thing: for the smart readout, the first couple of letters from the disk as in your dropdown would be easier then hd0,hd1 etc.

and ofcourse my ultimate: having the capability to put the boxes on the desktop......

At present I show the same label entered in CONFIGURE. In the future I might make some change.

are we talking about the same thing? I mean the boxes in the screenshot. They display just the harddisk slot

What do the SMART boxes indicate? I can't find the % given in the SMART readings for fitness nor performance.

I've found another thing in Exotics: if You change order of temperatures in Configure->Temperatures then proper boxes in Exotics replace their positions. It's not trouble to set good positions back by the way ;)

another thing: after disconnecting internal HDD with temperature sensor, box positions messed up (some boxes are replaced, some are hidden)
