Summary0001202: No Fan Speed Control
DescriptionNO fan speed control... under the email empulsegaming [at] gmail.com I have used the submit feature to submit all information available...

No fan control under XP 32/64 or Vista 32/64 or Server08 32/64

As far as i know it has the 3 prong sensor type fan (i took it apart... yep 3 wires to the fan) so it should have control but it doesn't... :(

(nForce 6100/430-410)

thanks

Which Board are you using?

I apologize for the long delay... i completely tore apart my laptop to see what i could do about the cooling...... still gets up to 200F with only running a download :X

Since its HP Built the motherboard shows as follows from PC Wizard 2008

"Mainboard : Quanta 30B9"

Additionally i thought i might ask if anyone can hack a BIOS... reading the latest bios (well it was back in 2007) for my laptop is says something about adjusting fan speed algorithm for quieter operation (and thus why it NEVER goes on high now and gets up to 200F) if someone can ill forward the link for the file... im fine with 100% fan speed all the time on my notebook since its cooling the GPU and CPU...

THX for anyone who can help...

Does the CPU or the GPU get so hot? You should undervolt your CPU, so that it stays cooler and consumes less power.

Both the CPU and GPU... I have the CPU on scaling... so when im not using anything power intensive its at 800MHZ per core, and of course i have the GPU doing similar...

but it still gets hot 160F idle... its insane... if i wanted to cook eggs/bacon id use the stove...

If Alfredo cannot make fan speed adjustable for this MoBo i guess im going to have to resort to paying someone to hack the BIOS... $50 in my paypal for the first to be my savior

I think that you can control fan speeds only using ACPI access. The main problem is that if ACPI has control over fan speeds, you will fight against it to keep fans at a specific speed.

while that is a little discerning, i would gladly run a batch file or something at every interval that it trys to change the fan speed just to have it run cooler... /cry i just burnt my hand on the piece of wood it was sitting on... (also if that is the case i guess im really looking for someone to hack the BIOS... crap)

If your temperatures are constantly that high, something must be wrong. You send it in for repair.

its been in for repair 3 times... its a design flaw... problem of overheating is apparent in the forums everywhere... thus my need to find someone to hack/mod a BIOS....

If it's a faulty design, you should either get your money back and buy a another notebook or contact the support and request a BIOS change.
