Summary0001177: Threatfire identifies Speedfan as a Keylogger
DescriptionI installed Speedfan 4.34 yesterday, and many hours later I got an alert from Threatfire (latest version) saying that speedfan.exe appeared to be logging keystrokes. I let Speedfan continue running, but I am a bit concerned! Has anyone else seen this warning message? Wayne
Steps To ReproduceI have uninstalled Speedfan until this potential problem has been resolved...

I would rather uninstall that other tool. I never heard of it, but this fantastic misdetection doesn't help to build a big reputation.
Unless you have some other virus that has severely hit your system, SpeedFan 4.34 was released 10 months ago. If you don't trust me, you should at least consider that some million downloads and users can't be wrong.

Thanks very much for your comments - it certainly seems that the message I received was a "false positive". BTW, Threatfire is a highly-rated (free!) program from PC Tools that detects "dangerous" program behavior. It is generally used to supplement normal antivirus programs by providing "zero day" protection against new threats. I contacted the Threatfire folks, and they will be adding Speedfan to their "whitelist" of safe programs. Thanks again.

I'm happy to read that this issue was sorted out. I hope you will find SpeedFan useful. Online there is SpeedFan 4.35 beta. Feel free to use the SEND REPORT (INFO tab) button if you think that support could be improved for your hardware.
