Summary | 0001171: FEATURE REQUEST: Service for Vista
Description | Due to Vistas UAC Speedfan won't recognize many of the sensors (except Core2 internal sensors) and also any HDD for SMART analysis. When run in "Adminsitrator" mode it works fine. Problem for "user" level users is they can't use SpeedFan at all and "admin" level users still have to commit the annoying UAC message "Program is trying to access your computer with administrative privledges" (or somhow simmilar - don't have english Vistas). The solution for this would be creating a service that will run with system privledges (i.e. can see and change everything) and the SpeedFan executable would only comunicate with the service. That would also propably make the service's values available to other programs (=> possibly other UIs, CLI, etc.).. or not - I don't know your plans, Alfredo ;)
