Summary0001044: Startup reboot caused by starting SpeedFan with default options, or Scan SMBus
DescriptionSpeedFan causes an instant restart/reboot every time it tries to access the SMBus on my laptop.
Steps To Reproduce1. Start SpeedFan with default options - the SpeedFan window opens briefly, about 5 or 6 lines of text appear in it, then laptop reboots.

2. Start SpeedFan with /NOSUPERIO - same as 1.
SpeedFan /NOSMARTSCAN - same as 1.
SpeedFan /NONVIDIAI2C - same as 1.
SpeedFan /NOACPISCAN - same as 1.
SpeedFan /NOUGURUSCAN - same as 1.

3. Start SpeedFan with /NOSMBSCAN - it starts correctly and does not reboot. Go to tab, click Scan SMBus, then click Start Scan - laptop reboots.

Make sure you downloaded and use the latest beta.
If so and the problem still exists use the /NOSMBSCAN startup switch and send a report with the program to Alfredo.
In the report comments paste a link to this thread!

Weel done. You tracked down the issue. It's the SMBus scan routine that is hitting something. There is a SMBDEBUG procedure described in the help file. If you follow it and send me the resulting report I will fix this issue for ever.
