| Description | Does Speedfan work correctly with Abit AI7 guru m/b. Searching thru old msgs I see earlier references to similar problems but no indication of whether it was actually fixed or current status. SF seems to intialise ok (recognises AI7 guru) and gets reading for temp, volts, and rpm but no netires in speed control tab or events tab. Also are there compatability issues with MBM5 and Abits own monitoring s/w? I have tried running in parallel and get frequent hangs of SF. Basically I wanted to compare readouts of several different monitor utilities as my experience is they can vary wildly. Abits own utility seems to provide accurate readings but it is not nice to use. An update on these issues would be nice so I can decide whether SF is worth pursuing or stick with MBM +abit EQ. | ||||

Readings should be perfect. As far as I know SF is compatible with Abit tools. Fan control is not supported because it would cause a big overhead if done the way SF controls fan speeds. I keep considering this. I might change my point of view in the future. |

OK just revisiting this. I am curious as to why there would be a big overhead in controlling fan speed via Speedfan. When you run the Abit FanEq program the first thing it does is check the CPU and NB fans speed range by taking them down to 8 volts and the back up to 12. It does this pretty quickly so it would seem there must be a straightforward method to control voltage to these fans. Running the Faneq setup program effectively sets the volt and temp parameters in bios and from then on bios/uguru will dynamically control fan speeds (if control option is enabled in bios) - this method of control does not require any Abit windows program to be constantly running on machine - sounds good but it has its problems. Similar Abit bards e.g. IC7 seem fine with Speedfan control. It would certainly be nice to be able to control the fans via Speedfan and forget the Abit stuff!. If you want any dumps/info from AI7 machine let me know. |
