Summary0000744: Max6640 issues
DescriptionTemp issues:
-Remote temp is actually the internal chip temp.
-Local temp is one of the remote temps. (I tested this problem by heating up a remote temp and noticed Local temp raised)
  -Remote temp2 is missing.

-In advanced, there is no option to change settings "open-loop", "closed-loop", "Full-on", etc...

I sent a report from the tool.

Thank you. I corrected the names to "TEMP 1" and "TEMP 2" as in the datasheet. I can't find any reference to the word "loop" in the datasheet. Could you help me?

Actually taking another look at the datasheet, it looks a little differnt then other Maxim chips....

Fan-Speed Control
The MAX6640 adjusts fan speed by controlling the duty
cycle of a PWM signal. This PWM signal then either
modulates the DC brushless fan

So you would like me to support changing bit 7 in registers 10h and 14h. Is this correct?

Yes, it would be great to allow the change of fan speed control.

PWM Control Mode:
  -Set bit 7 of the fan 1 or 2 configuration 1 register (10h and 14h) to 1

Manual RPM Control Mode
  -Set bits 2, 3,and 7 of the fan 1 or 2 configuration 1 register (10h and
14h) to zero.

Automatic RPM Control Mode
-setting bit 7 of the fan 1 or 2 configuration 1 register (10h and 14h) to zero and selecting the temperature channel that controls the fan speed using bits 2 and 3 of the configuration register.

I'll even send you one of my PCIexpress boards when the project is complete... I desided to use a MAX6640 and MAX6651 on a PCIe 1x board. Control 6 fans, two temps.
