Summary0000651: Starting Everest causes the CPU K8 Core temperature to drop about 10 degrees celcius
DescriptionI use SpeedFan to control my CPU fan speed, which means SpeedFan is always running. The problem is now when I start Everest, the K8 CPU core temperature that is displayed drops about 10 degrees. Everest displays the correct temperature, but SpeedFan is not.

When I exit Everest, the situation is not corrected. Also when I exit SpeedFan and restart it, the displayed temperature is still wrong. When I reboot my PC, everything is OK again.
Steps To Reproduce1) Start SpeedFan on a PC containing an AMD Athlon 64 (X2?) Processor
2) Make sure that K8 CPU temperature is detected & selected
3) Start Everest (I have version 3.01.652)

Additional InformationAsrock 939-DUAL-VSTA motherboard with AMD Athlon X2 4800+ processor, using a PWM CPU Fan that is connected to the motherboard.

Dual core CPUs require to write to some register. My guess is that Everest changes those registers while SpeedFan accesses them. My current policy is to read whatever core is currently selected. If any other tool fiddles with those registers it will be harder for other tools to be consistent. But I'm going to work on this.
