Summary | 0000649: CPU fan speed drops to 0 after resume from hibernate
Description | Like the summary says - after I resume from hibernation the CPU fan speed drops to zero. I thought maybe that it was just the readout that was wrong, but the CPU temperature also goes through the roof, so I guess the fan speed really is wrong. FYI: Dell Notebook support is enabled and debug support is enabled.

Same problem - more details: Fujitsu A3110 notebook, just sent a report... I was just using SpeedFan for monitirong of temp/speed after replacement of fan. However since the fan was not original Fujitsu I wanted to make sure it functions OK. But both after waking-up Hibernate and Standby the fan does not turn at all (sometimes speed-up) but always drops to 0 immediately. After restart everything works fine. I've never thought it is because of SpeedFan because the control is not working (and not enabled) - just monitoring! Decided the problem is in the fan, and found the original - (payed 10 times more, of course!)- same result! So decided to reinstall the op. system.... tried Win 7 /64 and for some reason speedfan could not work, but the fans functioned normally. Next step I re-installed the original system and found that if SpeedFan is active, the fan does not come back after wake-up, but if not active - everything is fine: using CPUCOOL to see the temperatures (it is useless for anything else). Do you understand why? this is a mystery! You think this can be fixed??? If yes - you r a genius! |

I have experienced this problem during suspend. If the 'Automatically variated' option is ticked in the 'Speeds' tab, then fan speed is set to the minimum value in the tab when you wakeup from suspend. If you don't change the minimum speed from your program defaults then this will be 0%. This becomes a problem if 'Automatic fan speed' is not ticked as the fan speed then stays at 0%, which I learned to my cost one time! |
