Summary | 0000622: Ability to enable/disable fan speed percentage levels
Description | My motherboard can control the speed of the CPU fan through an IT8712F(2). However, the resulting fan speeds logarithmically scale with the CPU fan speed percentage steps. For example: 1% -> 912rpm, 2% -> 1740rpm, 3% -> 2392rpm, 4% -> 2722rpm, 5% -> 2961rpm. Anything above 13% results in little to no fan speed increase, however it does increase but only with large changes to the percentage. (100% -> 4018rpm.) Additionally there are certain speeds that cause the CPU fan to emit a much loader whine then others. To help compensate for these situations and more, it would be great to be able to select which speeds (percentage steps) that you would like to be able to use. For example, you may only want to allow speed steps of 1%, 2%, 3%, 6%, 12%, 18%, 50%, 100%. This would enable the fan speed changing to react better in situations like mine where the fan speed increase is logarithmic. This would also allow users to disable speed steps which they deem to noisy. I believe with this feature the fan speed control would be near perfect. I hope this makes sense!
