| Description | I am using Sun Ultra 40 Workstation from Sun Microsystems, Inc. which has nForce Professional 2200 + 2050 chipsets based motherboard with Phoenix TrustCore Server BIOS. And here're some problems I run into when I run SpeedFan v4.28. 1. SpeedFan has wrong information (labels) on CPU temps and so on. (minor) 2. When SpeedFan is reran after the first running of SpeedFan is closed, SpeedFan won't be able to detect most of hardware sensors. 3. When Sun Ultra 40 Workstation reboots after SpeedFan is ran, Ultra 40 Worksation won't pass POST. To be exact, Memory Test process won't start and stays that way. Either cold boot or warm boot won't help resolve POST problem. And disconnecting the actual power cord and reconnecting it back is the only way to let Ultra 40 Workstation to pass POST and to boot up. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Run SpeedFan 2. Verify if every temperature information is shown. (Wrong, but all the temps are shown) 3. Close SpeedFan 4. Rerun SpeedFan 5. Verify if every temperature information is shown (Most of temp information is gone) 6. Close SpeedFan 7. Reboot 8. Verify if Sun Ultra 40 Workstation hangs during POST. (In fact, I can warm boot by using Ctrl+Alt+Del, so the whole system is not frozen. It's just that the system won't start Memory Test during POST and stays that way until the actual power cord is disonnected and reconnected. 9. Redo previous steps to see if the same thing happens. (Yes it does). :`( | ||||
| Additional Information | I am including the reading of SpeedFan's reading during its startup for both when SpeedFan is ran for the first time and when it is reran. (When SpeedFan is reran it has problem detecting the SMBus. It says SMB Error ***: Busy(1A)). The screenshots of when it was ran for the first time and when it was reran are included as well. | ||||

It looks like there is some device on the SMBus that doesn't like to be probed. I need your help and a SEND DEBUG in order to try to find a workaround. |

About the wrong temperature labels, SpeedFan uses what's written on datasheets, but sometimes (often) manufacturers use different assignments. |

I just fixed a nasty possible issue with a few Sun motherboard models. At present I know of no known issue with Sun motherboards. Please, try the latest beta available online and let me know. |
