Summary0000512: Set Fan speed for start-up
DescriptionHi,

I know this has been metioned before but....

Would it be possible to set the start-up speeds for fans so they are quiet at start-up?

I have mine set at 50% max speed and 5% min speed.

When speedfan starts the fans get set to the max speed and then slow down.

I would like them to start at the low speed and speed up if needed (much quieter!!)

I know I could set the max speed lower (or the temp higher) but then it gets hot quicker and the fans will go to 100% sooner.

You have an option to set the fans to 100% on exit, so it would make sense (to me anyway ;p) to have an option for start-up.

Thanks for a great proggie!!

dRdoS7.

I have a Shuttle XPC SB81P.

Yes indeed. IMHO, this is the main problem with SpeedFan, which is extremely nice otherwise.

I would suggest the following strategy when SpeedFan starts:

If all temperatures are below the DESIRED values, set fan at MIN.
If some temperature is between DESIRED and WARNING, set fan at MAX.
If some temperature is above WARNING, set fan at 100%.

This would still be absolutely safe and a lot better for the ears.

Sorry,
This line:
When speedfan starts the fans get set to the max speed and then slow down.

Should have read:
When speedfan starts the fans get set to 100% and then slow down.

Thanks,
