Summary0000489: When using SF 4.28 the machine locks up, with corrupted video, requiring the machine to be powered down
DescriptionWhen using SF to monitor the MB and the Nvidia 6800GT the machine randomly locks up, but usually within 10 minutes of starting the machine. When this occurs the display is corrupted and the machine has to be powered down, to recover. If I exclude scanning for the Nvidia card I have no problems.

Steps To ReproduceUse SF without disabling the Nvidia detection.

I have a similar issue with my Aopen Aelus 6800GT.

First my hardware though :

ASUS A8N-SLI with a DC AMD64X2 3800+.

If I start Speedfan it sometimes recognizes the temp sensor of my 6800GT. In this case after a few seconds sometimes a few minutes the whole screen gets corrupted.

The only solution is to change the resolution "blind" or by using my TV (card is also connected to my TV).

I was about to buy a new display card, was even looking at my LCD.

I can't use speedfan right now because of this. A shame really, cause there really are no alternatives...

Edit : How an I exclude the scanning for the video card??

I just added some code to avoid multiple detections of the very same sensor chip on the video card. You can see this happening on your system because a lot of sensors with the same value would appear.
Please, contant me if you wish to test the latest beta.
To disable nVidia video card support, please use the following command line parameter:

/NONVIDIAI2C

http://www.almico.com/sfarticles.php contains an article about how to use command line parameters.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I found out how to disable nvidia card support and that solves it. I'd be happy to test the latest beta. Thanks! My E-Mail should be visible for you I guess.

Greetings

Ehm... I can't find your email. It might be that there are too many users here and I can't see them all. Could you send me an email? :-)

I would like to test the beta if possible.

I thought about disabling the NVidia detection, the reason I didn't is because I use a m-Cubed T-Balancer to manage my water cooling system (including a water block on the video card) set up to use SpeedFan as a software sensor. And Speedfan can monitor all MB and video card temperatures.

BTW Speedfan rocks, I use it on all my systems.

Using Speedfan 4.29 beta 3 for a few days now and no problems so far. I made the mistake of starting the exe without extracting it into the program folder (thought it was a setup file) and instantly my display was corrupted. But after overwriting the exe from my previous installation that problem went away.

So far so good!

What is new in 4.29 Beta 3? It is possible to get this version?

same issue , machine locks up when playing games or full screen tv.
otherwise no problems.
asus a7n8x-x , asus n6600gt.
/NONVIDIAI2C option helps in clearing the problem.
