Summary0000483: Temp monitoring of hard drive prevents spin down for power saving
DescriptionXP's "power options" control panel can be set to spindown hard drives after minutes of being idle. Speedfan normally prevents this from working.

If I set the /nosmartscan command line parameter in speedfan, then the drive does spindown correctly, but no drive temperatures are reported.

Could another speedfan commandline option be created, which stops all S.M.A.R.T functionality except temperature reading of the drive? Or would just reading the temperature on the drive still stop it from ever spinning down? I'm willing to help test any ideas you have.
Steps To ReproduceIn "power options" control panel of XP, set "turn off hard disks" timer to activate after 3 minutes of inactivity.

If speedfan is started with the /nosmartscan option, this works correctly but no drive temps are reported.

If speedfan is instead started with no command line parameters, the drive never spins down.
