| Description | I've got it running as a service (and minimized) now with system privileges using a small trick from the Windows NT Resource Kit. The problem with that is: 1. It is only visible in the 1st logged in user's desktop. 2. It can be accidently closed while it's host service is still running. Restarting it again makes the temperature readings become erratic. It would be nice if one could install it as a service and if it would use a mutex to guarantee that only 1 instance of it is running. Perhaps this should be the only way of executing Speedfan (via services). Another idea perhaps is to split the current app into 2 parts: the machine singleton controller that runs as a service, and a (possibly multi instance) monitor that runs as an application (communicating with the controller via IPC for getting stats). It's a very nice and useful program by the way. If there were a nobel prize for freeware then you'ld probably be a candidate. | ||||

That, would be a real cool thing. I have seen some soultions, they tried to start it as an Service with ServAny but there are some other problems, like "interact witgh desktop" logout stops the service, etc. |
