I had the same problem once. Go do Device Manager. Click on the View menu and select "Show hidden devices". Expand the branch "Non plug and play devices". Speedfan is listed there! Right click on it, select "Uninstall". |

actually, i deleted speedfan.sys (i think thats it at least) from c:\windows\system32 and it installed fine. |

Please, drop me an email. I just found a bug in the installer and, hopefully, fixed it. I will send an EXE (the new installer) to the email address you will use to contact me. Please, make sure your mail account will not reject a 1MB EXE :-) |

I have seen reports like this in the shuttle forum: "I've recently decided to upgrade to the newest version of Speed Fan (4.26) and after deleting the previous version I've run into some issues... It appears that each time I attempt to install the newer version on my system, I receive an error message advising me that application is unable to install Speed Fan service into the Service Database and that Speed Fan Service was already installed. It also stated that it could not load SFEXTRA.DLL and that the giveIO is already running. I confirmed that I had indeed uninstalled the previous version, via the control panel, and could find no remnents of the application under the Program Files on my "C" drive. I'm currently at work and intend on searching the registry files when I get home this evening." (continued) " I did manage to search the registry and found an instance of speedfan, which I deleted. I also ran a utility called Registry Mechanic which cleaned up any remnants of the application in my registry, but still no joy! I checked all of my "C" drive as well as the registry and completed the uninstall originally via the control panel, so I don't understand what could be causing this "unable to install" situation..." Don't know how the fellow ever recovered from this situation if he did. |

I'm testing a new installer form 4.26 right now. If you know of any user suffering from this issue, tell him he can send me an email and I will send him the updated installer for a test. Please, do not use GMAIL accounts as they unconditionally reject EXEs. |
