This is something I'm working on. It doesn't happen on my systems and I still have to figure out a pattern. Somebody experiences it. I really can't understand how it can happen, because HD temperatures are read every time from scratch, without relying on previously configured data or opened handles. |

I'm experiencing something similar, although instead of seeing ??C I get 0C for both hard drives after returning from hibernate. I'm thinking it might be motherboard or HDD manufacturer-specific, but then I don't really know much about this so I might be completely off the mark. AMD Athlon XP 2500+ ECS K7S7AG rev. 1.3B Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40GB (ST340014A) Samsung Spinpoint P Series 160GB (SP1604N) Everything is detected correctly by SpeedFan. If you need any help (logs, reports, etc.) let me know. |

I'm encountering the same problem, after resume from suspend or hibernate the hard drive temp reading is 0C. It stays at 0 until either the system is rebooted or speedfan is stopped and restarted. Motherboard is asus a8n sli premium WD2500KS hard drive. speedfan is started with option /NOSCSISCAN (resolved a problem in the dim and distant past) As per other users all other readings are detected correctly. |

I've got the same issue (0 deg temps on both sata hdds after hibernate resume, temps are fine after resume from sleep tho). I don't think it's a hardware issue -- as I was running speedfan on this same system without issue running xp x64 and and now it does this on win7 -- though there is a hardware difference -- on the XP system I only used one HDD (an WDC WD5000KS-00MNB0) -- whereas now I have that one plus a SAMSUNG HD501LJ At some point I'll be going back to 1 hd, I can let you know if it goes away then... A wild guess is that it's some kind of permissions issue -- win7 seems to have more "security" levels, UAC or whatever... and maybe the system "forgets" that the logged in user has rights to the smart data, as such it may not even be a speedfan bug at all, but a windows bug, which would kind of make sense since Speedfan rules, and windows, well... not so much. |
