Summary | 0002629: No control over CPU fan speed, except after PC has been to sleep!?
Description | I have a P6T-SE motherboard with a 4 pin stock fan for my i7 processor. Recently added an SSD and reinstalled OS on it. Unfortunately the Asus fan control software doesn't work on Windows 10 and despite trying 'Run as Administrator' and Windows 7 compatibility mode I cannot get it to install. So I found SpeedFan as an alternative. I can control my case fans but it ignores the cpu fan for some reason except last night when I left my pc for a while and it went to sleep and after I woke it up I noticed that all the Sys, CPU and Aux had been reset to 0% (I had left them on 100%). I noticed that the rpm on the CPU was way down and when I changed the value to 100% I heard the fan become noisy and the rpm shot right up. It was suddenly working and I had full control! Today, however, after booting up the pc it is back to not working again. I have been through the settings to see if altering them makes any difference and I tried closing potential programs running in the background that may be interfering but it makes no difference. Q-fan control is turned off in the BIOS. Any help would be much appreciated.
