Summary0000259: RAID volume not detected in device list
DescriptionHello,

my system is running 3 HDD discs - one is ATA, running on Primary ATA controller, and is detected by SF fine.

Other two are SATA, running in Raid0 mode - and SF does not see this volume, and, of course report it's counters..

SpeedFan uses standard calls to access S.M.A.R.T. data. Some drivers support those calls. Some others don't. When some disks are used in a RAID setup, it is not clear how S.M.A.R.T. values should be returned for the logical disk. Some controllers do return the data from the first drive, but most of all do return nothing. Some manufacturers do use custom APIs to access such data. I'm trying to contact them.

If it helps at all, my raid controller is ICH5R (Motherboard Abit IC7, Intel i875 based).

Perhaps it would be possible to access hard disks directyl, bypassing RAID controller?

I will try to find some reference, but, for reliability reasons, I won't do anything that could potentially be harmful.

I think that SpeedFan will support S.M.A.R.T. if and when Intel ever updates the RAID drivers for their ICH5R/ICH7R chips to support S.M.A.R.T.
