Summary | 0002553: Feature request - run at startup/login.
Description | This motherboard doesn't support this CPU officially, as such it runs the CPU fan at 100% all of the time. i use speed fan to control the fans speed via advanced fan control so that the CPU fan isnt so loud and annoying. when i login, i have to manually start speedfan to enable control of the CPU fan. (to be honest, it does get a little annoying having to start it manually) regards.

I've added a shortcut into Startup folder for Speedfan.exe Works exactly as expected. I wish it to be started BEFORE any user has had logged in. |
(replying to MaxusR) Doesn't work for me, the shortcut is in the folder. speedfan doesn't launch. (due to it requiring admin permission?) That would be nice too, having it launch before you've logged in from a cold boot. |
Yes. Admin permissions are required, so UAC can be the issue. I've read that the simplest possible way to run a program as an administrator without turning UAC off is to create scheduled task. Shortcut can be of help with UAC turned off, like in my case. Also, check the "start minimized" check box in the Options tab of Speedfan. Alfredo says that this should be enough to start the program, but it isn't. |
that didn't work. still didn't launch when i logged in. |
I've used something like that: http://www.bugtrack.almico.com/view.php?id=2423 But with the latest version had some problems I don't remember, so a shortcut is my way. I'm sorry if the way don't work for you. |
nope, still doesn't work. *shrugs* thanks for trying to help :) |

Placing a shortcut in startup does not work for me and task scheduler is slow to fully start Speedfan on my system. I start Speedfan through run and have to say yes to UAC prompt for Speedfan but if you have UAC turned down/off then no prompt. If you have UAC on then you will get a prompt but only once a day ( or whenever you restart). I have attached a file startup.reg if you want to try it out. Save as type "all files" or it will have .txt on the end. After that just import into the registry. |
