| Description | Can Speedfan implement a feature where the detected hardware is stored in a configuration file (isn't it already?) and next time the program is run, it can skip the lengthy hardware detection phase and just use the settings from the file? I'd be HUGELY in favor of adding this feature, if it were possible. My fans are so obnoxious, I go nuts every time I wait for SpeedFan to finally initialize and shut them up. |

Alfredo, any comments on this issue? Each time I run SpeedFan, my system essentially freezes up and becomes unusable for up to a full minute, until SpeedFan finishes initializing and begins monitoring. I've even tried setting its startup priority to low, but it doesn't help much. |

It is something I always keep in mind. Currently, SpeedFan repeats the detection process every time and the whole internal design relies on this, but I'm trying to figure out if there is a safe way to speed things up. Anyway: one minute is way too much. If it takes that much time, most likely you have an SMBus that wasn't properly initialized by the BIOS and SpeedFan tries to get something out of it. A SEND REPORT might help. Try to contact me. |
