Summary | 0002432: Incorrect CPU temperature on AsRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
Description | Under load an incorrect CPU temperature is reported on the AsRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard. Idle temperatures seem fine (compared to OpenHardware Monitor and Core Temp), however, on load SpeedFan (4.51 as well as 4.52 Beta2) reports quite lower CPU temperature than other programs. For example: when running OCCT CPU stress test for 10 minutes OHWM, Core Temp, Argus Monitor and AsRock AXTU software all report CPU temperature around 45C (with temperatures increasing quickly), while SpeedFan reports CPU temperature only around 38C (and increasing slowly). I planed using the advanced fan control to spin case fans according to CPU temperature and this prevents me to use the feature.
Steps To Reproduce | Run CPU stress test and compare with other monitoring programs. Also, when gaming MSI Afterburner reports different (higher) CPU temperatures than SpeedFan - in SpeedFan CPU temperature barely icreases.

I uploaded a picture of default OHWM, custom OHWM (that shows the correct CPU temperature, as well as the +5v voltage) and the CPUID HWMonitor. CPUID Hardware Monitor shows the same CPU temperature as Speedfan (and default OHW), however, it also shows a 4th sensor TMPIN3 that shows the correct CPU temperature - the same as the custom OHWM and AsRock's AXTU software. If you wish I can e-mail you the default and custom OHWM - maybe you can compare what is the difference in the sensor settings. Let me know at sa5o.gm@gmail.com. |
