|0002030: Speedfan causes nvidia discrete graphics to oscilate between OFF and IDLE on DELL VOSTRO notebook
|On a DELL VOSTRO 3460 notebook with a NVIDIA 630m discrete graphics and an intel HD4000 onboard graphics, while speedfan is running, it causes NVIDIA OPTIMUS to switch the card between OFF and IDLE constantly, once every 1-2 seconds. This switching causes the system to freezes for a fraction of time, degrading user experience and in a short time, making the usage of Speedfan a burden.
|Steps To Reproduce
|Just have to load the software. Closing it fix the problem. The switching of the card can be seem using NvOptimusTestViewer64.exe.
|Drivers for the nvidia card are the ones provided by DELL. The updated version from the nvidia website cannot be installed.
Version of the drivers: 290.70
PS: priority selected as major since it renders the software unusable.

|Video Card Model
|Even without an official update from Dell, Nvidia launched new drivers that can be installed for this OEM GPU. With the new version 306.23, this problem doesn’t occur anymore (I’ve been running Speedfan for about 8 hours without problems and I’ve restarted the system twice. With that, I think that this issue report can be closed.
