| Description | When speedfan is running or hás been running, and I put my computer in standby (s3 power state), it does not want to wake up anymore in 9 of the 10 times. When I press the on/off button, the system resumes with powering itself, but only partly: one fan does not start and the keyboard/mouse get no active power. Windows does not resume, the screen stays black and the computer does not respond to any action. I can only restart my computer by cutting the netpower, because resetting and hard-shutting-down (by pressing the on/off button 5 seconds) will result in the same situation: black screen, no response. First shutting down speedfan and then putting the computer in sleep mode doesn't help. Speedfan seems to keep control of the system, and does not give the control back to windows/BIOS. I believe this may be part of the problem. (when shutting down speedfan gave back control to the sytem, my problem wouldn't be very hard to solve either. I would just have to shut down speedfan before entering standby) However, sometimes (very rare though) the computer succeeds to wake from standby while speedfan was running. I don't know why. This is ofcourse very annoying. With a bug/problem you want it to be 100% reproducable, and in this case it is not. | ||||
| Additional Information | Speedfan PWM modes are "software controlled" The rest of the speedfan chipset settings are default. Entering powerstate S1 does not give the problems described above. I already tried to change all the power-management settings in Windows and in the BIOS, but they do not seem to fix the problem. When I do not start up speedfan, I have no troubles entering and leaving the S3 powerstate, so it has clearly something to do with speedfan. | ||||

Interesting. How long did you wait before unplugging? Did you try to press some key and/or move the mouse? |

I wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute before unplugging. Clicking the mouse only results in a flicker of the red led. Sometimes it 'goes on' as normally after clicking, but the computer is never responding to the mouseclick. The keyboard gets no power at all, also not when pressing a button. Another interesting thing. When I have "hybrid sleep" (both S3 energy mode and S5) activated in windows, and the computer is stuck in S3 sleep mode, it seems to sucessfully write the contents of the memory to the harddisk. Because when I unplug the computer, plug it back in after 10 seconds, windows is "resuming from hybernation". When "hybrid sleep" is deactivated, after unplugging windows gives a "computer is not shut down properly" message. As already said: resetting and hard-shutting-down results in the same situation. Only cutting the netpower for about 10 seconds resets everything. |
